- Silene latifolia has been found in the Watershed by parking lots, vacant lots, and road sides—but not frequently. There are just two locations, both connected by Hwy 160: around South Fork (2004, 2014) and by the restroom of a parking area at Big Meadows Reservoir (2019). The flower continues on south along Hwy 160 into the San Juan River drainage: Wolf Creek cpgd (1977, Mineral Co) and Rito Blanco Road (1998, Archuleta Co). The latest observation adds to this pattern: near Hanna (east of South Fork, Rio Grande Co), 2020, iNaturalist observation #55505728.This exotic has been recorded from every USA state except for Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. It extends down the Rio Grande drainage only as far as Santa Fe, Sandoval, and Bernalillo counties, New Mexico.
