- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS There is only one collection of mountain campion from the Watershed: Conejos Co, barely east of the Divide (Blue Lake, elev 11,418'), in “moist gravelly soil” (1987, P. Douglas coll). BONAP shows Mineral Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. Tim Hogan's collection of Silene hitchguirei was found in the Culebras just east of the Watershed, on the northeast face of Purgatoire Peak (Costilla Co, 2016). Allred et al. (2020) report a recently discovered alpine occurrence in the Cristos of New Mexico, in Taos Co. This unique New Mexico location marks the farthest south of the plant's USA range, which is largely the Rockies of Colorado, Wyoming, and east Utah.
