- Although several times Ramaley found Drummond's campion in Upper Basin meadows (1929-1934), and recently it has been collected in the Baca NWR, usually the plant grows from the montane to the alpine, where It can be found in a variety of habitats: tundra ridge tops, understory of ponderosa woods, grassy montane slopes, clear-cut spruce forests, etc. (e.g., the 2022 photorecord from the Conejos River). Silene drummondii is widely spread throughout the Rockies and the Intermountain regions, including the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to Sierra Co, but not farther down stream. Note that Hobey Dixon's voucher identified as "Silene noctiflora" (Cochetopa pass, 1983) is probably Silene drummondii.
