- Of this stitchwort, the Watershed shows only about 10 collections, all subalpine or alpine, and all from the south SanJuans, from Stony Pass down to the high country in Conejos Co. In that region Sabulina macrantha is much less common than the sympatric stitchwort Cherleria obtusiloba (see Sharples 2017). For S. macrantha BONAP shows Saguache Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. Sabulina macrantha, traditionally treated as Minuartia macrantha, is found scattered through the mountains of Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. Specimens from Bernalillo Co in New Mexico may represent the farthest down the Rio Grande drainage this specie thrives. The authority for the new genus name is Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014).
