- The Watershed variety of field chickweed, Cerastium arvense var. strictum, is present in all mountain regions of the Watershed, a common flower of meadows and grassy slopes from montane to alpine. The species is native to both Europe and the USA, where it can be found in the Rockies from the Canadian border to the Mexican, along the Pacific coast, and in the northern Midwest and New England states. In New Mexico it follows the Rio Grande Drainage to the border with Texas, but no farther down the drainage.
