- Comments
- In the Watershed there are no collections of Symphoricarpos oreophilus from the La Garitas and only one from the Cristos. It is common elsewhere. This record of distribution is problematic because of the difficulty in separating S. oreophilus from S. rotundifolius. Many specialists do not accept S. oreophilus as a separate species, pointing to the intergrading of features such as inside hairiness of the corollas. BONAP, however, accepts it, and shows a USA distribution covering nearly every county west of the Great Plains (except those bordering the Pacific Ocean). This distribution continues down the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the Big Bend country of Texas.
