- Campanula rotundifolia is the most commonly collected bellfower from the Watershed, east and west, north and south. Generally it thrives at higher elevations than does C. parryi, in high meadows and scree slopes, sometimes in long grass. In the USA its range extends down the Rockies to the Mexican border and across all the northern states. It is native to the USA but also present in the United Kingdom and the Scandinavian countries. Experts continue to discuss whether the correct name for the USA flower is C. rotundifolia, C. petiolata, or C. rotundifolia var. petiolata. Currently (July 2024), Plants of the World Online have relegated "Campanula rotundifolia" to the Old World, and the old New World "Campanula rotundifolia" defined only as a Campanula "complex."
