Comments
In the Watershed, Echinocereus viridiflorus grows in a similar habitat and distribution of E. triclochidiatus [E. mojavensis], that is, dry foothill slopes all around the Valley. For recent observations, see iNaturalist 2015-2024. As many species of Echinocereus, variation in the form of E. viridiflorus is extensive. It is present in the central and southern Rockies, including the Front Range and the western Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico down to the Big Bend country of Texas.
