Comments
In the Watershed, Echinocereus viridiflorus grows in a similar habitat and distribution of E. triclochidiatus [E. mojavensis], that is, mostly on the west side of the Valley on dry foothill slopes. The one location from the east side of the valley is near the town of Blanca. As many species of Echinocereus, variation in the form of E. viridiflorus is extensive. It is present in the central and southern Rockies, including the Front Range and the western Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico down to the Big Bend country of Texas.
