NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are only three Watershed records of this field mustard: Monte Vista NWR, Rio Grande Co (1953); east of La Garita, Saguache Co (1956); and near Los Mogotes, Conejos Co (1989). All around the USA Sinapis arvensis is a serious pest in agricultural crops, but not, it seems, in the Valley. Long thought to be an exotic in the USA, introduced by early European settlers, Jacobson et al. (1988) provide evidence, some archaeological, that it existed in pre-Columbian times, in the USA Northeast. Is recorded from every state of the USA, and from the Rio Grande drainage, in a very spotty way, through New Mexico down to the Gulf of Mexico.
